March 5th Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
This build isn’t just about bug fixes, though; it also contains around 13 other miscellaneous changes, ranging from Mission Mode adjustments to game design improvements. Changes, Additions Characters will now react to the sight of Yandere-chan carrying bloody clothing. (I didn’t realize this wasn’t a feature in the game until now!) Being spotted carrying around bloody clothing is considered the same as carrying around evidence of murder (like a severed limb). If this is too harsh, then I’ll change the punishment to something else in the future. Removed the “students react to footsteps at low school atmosphere” feature, since it was changing the intended game design significantly and creating weird exploits. The feature may eventually be re-added if I can figure out a better implementation. If there are bloodstains present at school when the police arrive (but no corpses) the text that displays during the End-of-Day sequence will reflect this. If a student reports a severed l...

March 2019 Progress Report

Gambar
Remember how the last big update – the ability to drop stuff on students and light them on fire – resulted in a ton of new bugs? Well, I’m gonna keep it real with you; this build might have the same issue. This update involved MASSIVE overhauls to the “teacher receives report / teacher investigates report” feature, and it’s entirely possible that there might be new bugs with that feature, and also bugs when students and teachers react to suspicious objects. I tested every situation I could think of and fixed every problem I found, but there might be some edge-cases I didn’t think of testing, so you might run into some weird bugs in this build. (That’s the point of these debug builds, though; for people to find and report bugs.) Watching YouTubers play Yandere Simulator is, by far, the best way for me to learn about flaws, exploits, and bugs in the game. However, I’m fully prepared to accept the possibility that YouTubers will ignore this build, since this update probably doesn’t ...

February 19th Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
You know the drill by now, right? Fixes, Changes, and Additions When Yandere-chan dumps liquid or weights off the roof and presses the “Q” key (or the “B” button on Xbox controller), the player will see a little picture-in-picture camera view of the liquid/weights falling and hitting the ground (or its target). Fixed bug that allowed Yandere-chan to dump something off of the school roof even if a fence was around the school rooftop. Fixed bug that caused the Occult Club to spend eternity walking into their locked clubroom door if their closed down. Fixed bug that would prevent liquid from being able to collide with a character standing in the outdoor cafeteria. Updated the Martial Arts Club’s hair colors and eye colors, since their old colors always bothered me a little. Fixed bug that would prevent liquid from being able to collide with a character standing behind the school. Fixed bug that prevented Yandere-chan from being able to wear a lab coat after joining the Scien...

February 18th Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
There were a few more bugs that I really wanted to fix, so here’s a new build! Fixes, Changes, and Additions Changed the Martial Arts Club’s daily routine; They now walk around school and practice martial arts in different locations. This increases the chance that they will become witnesses to your crimes. Fixed bug that would cause a character (student or teacher) to walk in place indefinitely if they were splashed with water while investigating the sound of a giggle. Adjusted the hedges in the center plaza so that it’s no longer possible for Yandere-chan to become trapped between a closed door and a hedge. Slight adjustment to the “leave a note in a student’s locker” feature; adjusting which subjects are interesting to which students. Adjusted the two mirrors at the top of the northeast staircase so that they are no longer rendering the game’s skybox. Fixed bug that would cause the pipe wrench to hover in front of Yandere-chan’s hands when she was holding it. Fixed bug ...

February 17th Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
The changes I made in the Feb 15th update introduced some new bugs to the game. I’ve uploaded a new build that should fix those bugs! You can click “Continue Reading” to see a list of everything that was fixed and changed. Fixes, Changes, and Additions Changed the Occult Club’s daily routine. Now, instead of spending all day inside of their clubroom, they walk around school and attempt to research “The Seven Mysteries of Akademi High” – a series of urban legends that are associated with the school. Currently, you can only see them research 5 of the 7 mysteries. Can you guess what the other 2 are? Added some new props to the school – a painting, some mirrors, a basketball, a piano, and an anatomical figure. These are connected to “The Seven Mysteries”. The 7 mysteries will play a larger role during Oka Ruto’s week at school. Fixed bug that caused the “Find Locker” button prompt to display on a student’s profile if the player has backed out of the “Find Locker” menu without fin...

February 16th Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
Oops!! That previous build had an outright embarrassing number of bugs. Here’s a new build, containing twice the number of bug fixes that a normal build contains. Fixes and Changes It is now possible to dump a bucket of liquid or weights off the school roof onto a student who is standing directly behind the school. (However, remember that a bucket is only fatal if there are 5 weights in the bucket!) Fixed bug that would prevent a bucket-over-door trap from working effectively if Yandere-chan was holding an object in her hands at the moment that the trap was activated. Fixed bug that would cause a student to register as “doused in gasoline” even if that student had been to the locker room and cleaned gasoline off of their body. If anyone witnesses you touch a gasoline-doused student with a candle, they will recognize that you are committing murder and react according to their Persona. Expanded the size of the candle flame’s collider so that it’s less likely for a gasoline-do...

February 15th Update

Gambar
The primary focus of this build was to update gameplay mechanics that, previously, only applied to Kokona. It is now possible to frame anyone for murder, push anyone off the roof, drop a heavy object on anyone, and set anyone on fire. The methods for doing some of these things have changed. There is also a new feature in Yandere-chan’s room, a new weapon, and some other minor additions! Changes To Framing For Murder The player can now frame *anyone* for murder, not just Kokona during her cooking event. The process is described below: Obtain a roll of masking tape in the Art Club. Find a cardboard box in the Incinerator area, and use the masking tape to tape the cardboard box shut. Wear gloves to avoid getting your fingerprints onto a murder weapon. Stab a box cutter into the taped cardboard box. Present the stabbed box to a student and ask for help getting the box cutter out. The student will agree, and put their fingerprints onto the box cutter. Changes To Rooftop-Push...

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Gambar
Yandere Simulator is a game about love (well, it’s closer to “twisted obsession” than “love”…) so Valentine’s Day feels like an especially relevant holiday! The game’s next update is scheduled for February 15th, but in recognition of Valentine’s Day, I’d like to share some Yandere Simulator fan creations with you! here’s a gorgeous illustration from TheGreyEyes.  It’s a very creative use of the “Red Thread of Fate” concept, especially if you imagine that each of those red strings is connected between Senpai and a rival girl! a cutscene between Senpai and Osana where Osana mentions that she refuses to cut her hair until Senpai acknowledges her feelings. This means that, if Senpai rejects her, Osana might cut her trademark hair. MulberryArt created an illustration depicting what a short-haired Osana might be like; it’s very interesting to see her this way! Next, I’d like to share some Osana cosplay from a cosplayer named Trustfall. Several years ago, her v...

February 3rd Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
There were some bugs related to the new features, so I’ve fixed them in this build! Fixes and Additions Fixed bug that broke students’ animations if they reacted to Yandere-chan’s strange behavior while eating a snack / walking to a water fountain. Fixed bug that would cause students to spend a very long time reacting to a corpse before stepping away from it. Fixed bug that allowed the player to indefinitely electrocute a student by flicking a light switch on and off. Fixed bug that caused students to lose their unique walking animations after vomiting into a toilet. Fixed bug that prevented students from reacting to the sight of another student being electrocuted. Fixed bug that caused the snack vending machine to not be affected by changes in lighting. Fixed bug that caused a student to eat snacks with a scrubber/eraser in their hand. Fixed bug that caused phone addicts to eat snacks with a smartphone in their hand. Fixed bug that caused the Gazer easter egg’s textur...

February 2nd Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
The previous build was stable, but it did have a handful of issues that I wanted to correct, so here’s an update! Fixes and Changes Students in Yandere-chan’s class will now get out of their seats one-by-one instead of all standing up simultaneously. Fixed bug that allowed Yandere-chan to give a snack to a student who was about to attend class. Fixed bug that caused the “Open/Locked/Lockpick” prompts to appear on the medicine cabinet. Fixed bug that caused Phone Addicts to hold their phones in their hands while eating food. The school’s sliding gate now makes sound effects as it opens / closes. Fixed physics bug with Yandere-chan’s most recent new hairstyle. Fixed bug that caused a wrench to be labeled as a dumbbell. Fixed bug that allowed the player to poison Senpai. Adjusted Gaming Club lunchtime seating positions. Added props to the Sewing Room. Fixed problems with the F2 easter egg. Now it will have the atmosphere that I intended for it to have. There is no object...

Manipulating Students in Yandere Simulator

Gambar
New Poisoning Method A student who needs to vomit will now travel to the *nearest* toilet, instead of traveling to one specific toilet every time. If a student sees you poisoning their food, you will lose reputation, and they will refuse to eat the food. Students will no longer ignore murder or corpses if they are eating emetically-poisoned food. If a student sees you poisoning somebody else’s food, you will lose reputation. Students will now react to the sight of a student who is dying from poison. It’s now possible to drown a student who is vomiting into a toilet. Omitting students will now make vomiting sound effects. Horuda now eats lunch in the school cafeteria, facing Toga. This is to give players a good location for testing how students react to seeing someone die from poison, testing a student’s reaction to murder during a poison animation, etc. If you put a headache-inducing substance into a student’s bento, that student will visit the nurse and ask for medicine...

January 17th Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
The previous build had a few embarrassing bugs in it, so I wanted to quickly get a new build out for you! I’d like to show you a list of everything that was fixed or changed in the current build, and I’d also like to tell you what kind of feature I’m currently working on…but first, let me ask you a question: Do you know what a “nengajo” is? A “nengajo” is a type of postcard that Japanese people send to their friends and family on the first day of a new year. A Japanese fan of Yandere Simulator created a nengajo for me, and while we’re still relatively close to the start of a new year, I’d love to share it with you! Fixes, Changes, and Additions Fixed bug that made save files on the title screen turn pure white if the player deleted their save file while that save file had bloodstains on it. Fixed bug that would cause the new sewing student to permanently walk around holding clothing in his hand with a sewing sound effect playing. Fixed bug that allowed a student to be decap...

January 15th Update

Gambar
New build! Here’s a brief overview of what’s new: Selfie Mode School gate murder method New area at school New animations for dumbbell weapon Ability to wield a fire extinguisher as a weapon Four new characters One new task To read a more elaborate list of everything that is new / changed / different in the latest build, please scroll down past this amazing artwork of Yandere-chan fighting a giant Titan version of Megami Changes and Additions When aiming Yandere-chan’s camera, you can now switch to a “selfie” camera angle. The selfie angle allows you to be more discreet when taking a photo, because bystanders will assume that you’re taking a photo of yourself, rather than their face or their panties. In the selfie angle, your goal is to take a photograph of something to the side of Yandere-chan, rather than directly in the center of the screen. You can press a button to activate a little guide that shows you where your target should be located on the screen. ...

January 4th Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
Hi! The previous build didn’t have any super-critical bugs in it, but I’ve made some improvements and fixes, so I figure I might as well upload a new build. Fixes, Changes, and Additions The “chase camera” that appears when a student is running away after taking a photograph will now have appropriate desaturization, depending on current School Atmosphere. Fixed bug that prevented “Speech Lines” from ceasing to emit from a student’s head when they were handed food by a member of the Cooking Club. Fixed bug that prevented students from using cleaning equipment if Yandere-chan spoke to them during cleaning time. From now on, if more than 10 clubs have been shut down, a Friday club meeting will no longer take place. Fixed bug that caused the incinerator countdown timer to display the wrong numbers while counting down. Fixed bug that would prevent Kokona from playing the right animation when finding her lost phone. Fixed bug that allowed the player to talk to Gita about her ta...

January 3rd Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
Hi again! The previous build had some unexpected bugs, so here’s a new build with fixes. Fixes, Changes, and Additions From now on, whenever Yandere-chan’s Physical Education Stat increases during gameplay, all corpses at school will automatically update to have the “Carry” button prompt appear. The Drama Club can no longer be seen rehearsing their play on the gym stage if a memorial service was held there earlier in the day. Fixed bug that caused all of the bullies (including Musume) to write nasty graffiti on Musume’s desk after exiting a memorial service. Fixed bug that caused the Student Council to glitch out if they shoved Yandere-chan while on their way to turn off a radio. Fixed bug that prevented “speech lines” from ceasing to emit out of a character’s head when Yandere-chan spoke to them. Fixed Mission Mode bug that was preventing School Atmosphere from being affected by the current difficulty level. Fixed bug that caused Riku’s hair to change color if the playe...

1st Progress Report

Gambar
I didn't want to let any more time pass without a progress report, so I've prepared one for you. It’s mostly a recap of what I’ve already said across various blog posts. Fixes, Changes, and Additions Added another background track to the school scene (with 9 variations, one for each combination of atmosphere and sanity). These tracks were created by Ferret Entertainment! The school scene now has 8 tracks in total. During school gameplay, you can skip to the next track by tapping the “M” key twice. Removed Study-kun A and Study-kun B. Their purpose was to allow the player to deduce what Kokona was attracted to (slick hair, intelligence) but now that the school has other male students with those traits, the Study-kuns are no longer necessary. Added two new background music tracks to Mission Mode (there are now 8 tracks in total). You can change the music that plays in Mission Mode by opening the pause screen and selecting the music icon during Mission Mode gameplay. Fi...

26th Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
Hi again! We’re planning to upgrade the game engine from Unity 2017 to Unity 2018, which will probably take a few days. If you have to wait a few days until the next update, I want you to have the most stable and bug-free build possible, so I’m releasing a new build with some miscellaneous bug fixes. Fixes, Changes, and Additions Fixed bug that allowed the player to mop up the fake blood in the Photography Club’s fake crime scene. Fixed bug that would cause carrots to float in midair when digging a hole in the Gardening Club. From now on, if a club closes down, the corresponding “Join our club!” poster will disappear. Fixed bug that prevented Yandere-chan from being able to commit murder after loading a save. There is now a confirmation window when deleting your save data at the Calendar screen. There is now a confirmation window when deleting your save data at the Title screen. Fixed bug that would cause Dora to play the wrong instrument after reloading a save. Replaced...

Christmas + New Build + Progress Report

Gambar
Progress Report For a very long time, I’ve wanted to implement a new inventory system. This is one of the things that I worked on over the past few weeks. However, while working on it, I was plagued with self-doubt. I constantly asked myself questions like, “What if nobody likes this feature?” “What if I’m working on a feature that nobody wants?” “What if everyone wants me to change it back?” “What if this breaks the game’s design?” “What if this turns out to be a giant waste of time?” In the end, I decided that the new inventory system was a bad idea. It would change the flow of gameplay drastically, require significant alterations to the game’s design, and would probably be perceived as a hindrance rather than an improvement. Because I had sunk multiple days into it, I didn’t want to stop; stopping would mean that my time had been a waste. But, continuing to spend more time on it would be an even BIGGER waste, so I stopped working on the new inventory system. I decided to work ...

14th Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
It’s the same story as before; bug fixes and improvements have been piling up, so here’s a new build. This is exactly what I was hoping people would do when I added the pins-and-strings feature to the game, so it makes me so happy to see this! I just had to share it! Fixes and Changes Added more cardboard boxes near the incinerator area so that the player is no longer able to sneak a corpse past the delinquents by simply hugging the wall as they turn the corner. Fixed bug that made it difficult and inconvenient to take the Ritual Knife out of the skull unless the camera was pointing in a very specific direction. Fixed bug that made the wrong shoes appear in Yandere-chan’s hands when she ripped off a student’s shoes while pushing them off the school rooftop. Made further adjustments to the pathfinding grid to make it even less likely for students to get stuck on doors when passing through doorways. The Matchmaking minigame involved a reference to Kokona’s stockings, but...

11th Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
I’ve made a lot of bug fixes and minor improvements over the past few days, so I’ve decided to release a new build! Fixes and Changes When you pass through a door, a little text box appears at the bottom-right corner of the screen, telling you what room you’re entering. I’ve fixed a bug that caused this text box to display the wrong information when passing through a door at the gym. Fixed bug that would cause a student to twitch violently or slide across the ground if they were investigating the sound of a giggle from Yandere-chan at the same time as they were being handed food by a member of the Cooking Club. Fixed bug that would cause Sports Club members to perform a running animation while moving at walking speed if the player asked the student to follower her while they were jogging on the track. Fixed bug that would cause the police to instantly arrive at school if the player was sent to the guidance counselor while a mind-broken slave was present (but inactive) at sch...

6th Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
Posted on December 6, 2018 by YandereDev Oops! Yesterday’s build had a bug that prevented the game from spawning characters with the correct appearances. I wanted to upload a new build without that issue, but it would be weird to upload a build that only contains one fix, so I fixed a bunch of other bugs too. Fixes, Changes, Additions Fixed bug that would cause Cooking Club members to exhibit strange behavior (running in place, talking to thin air) if they were distracted with laughter immediately before/after putting down a plate of food. Fixed bug that caused a bunch of “You’ve been spotted! You’ve alarmed the people around you!” visual effects to flash onscreen when the player exited the guidance counselor’s office. Fixed bug that prevented the player from being able to talk to the Drama Club leader about the Drama Club if he was in the backstage area of the gym. Fixed bug that allowed a randomly-generated Mission Mode mission to involve one of the student IDs that has n...

5th Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
If you’ve been following the development of Yandere Simulator for a while, then you’ve probably noticed that all female characters share the same “base model”; as a result, they all have the same face Fixes, Changes, Additions From now on, when you take a photo of something that has a use for Yandere-chan (like a photo of panties), a text box will appear at the top of the screen and display the name of whatever you have just photographed. If you take a photo of a Task-related subject (such as the kitten, or Miyuji playing air guitar) you’ll see the name of that subject appear at the top of the screen, too. This should help the player to confirm that they have taken a photograph of something that satisfies the requirements of a Task. From now on, whenever you speak to a student, all Light Music Club members’ instruments will decrease in volume so that the sound of their instruments doesn’t overpower the voice of the student you’re speaking to. Their volume will return to normal...

2nd Bug-Fixing Build

Gambar
Hi! I was worried that shrinking the school environment and re-positioning some areas would result in a whole bunch of new bugs. Fortunately, it only resulted in a small number of bugs, which have been fixed in this update. This build also contains a few minor changes and additions (such as a new Task for one of the students)!    Fixes, Changes, and Additions Fixed bug that would cause a Club Leader to instantly be aware that Yandere-chan was a murderer if a club member witnessed Yandere-chan commit murder while she was a member of that club. Fixed bug that caused students to behave incorrectly if they were instructed to “Go Away” while wearing club attire (such as a martial arts gi or a scientist lab coat). Fixed bug that caused Kaga Kusha to get stuck on the Science Club’s door during Cleaning Time, if the Science Club was shut down. Fixed bug that prevented a club leader from performing the correct animation when kicking Yandere-chan out of a club. Fixed bug th...
